Eva McClellan Vance

On the morning of June 14, 2024, Eva Evelyn McClellan Vance passed on to her Heavenly home surrounded by the ones she loved dearly, at her residence. Her life began living on Gouges Creek in Spruce Pine, then moved to Crossnore as a teenager. She and her late husband moved to Morganton, and she lived most of her life there.

Eva was a loving daughter, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished her only daughter, Victoria and her only granddaughter Cara, more than anything. She absolutely loved her animals and taking care of them. She loved her family so much and loved for all of them to be together. Her great-grandsons Dawson and Peyton were the light of her life. She loved nature, rain, and the outdoors. She retired from the Textile industry and could always be found cooking or baking. She loved doing embroidery and collecting all kinds of trinkets. She had too many “young-uns” (as she called them) to even name them all. She was a one of a kind soul and was kind and loving to all she met.

Left to cherish her memories is her daughter, Victoria Vance (Tommy Smith) of Morganton, granddaughter Cara Holley (Ian Gilliam) of Marion, great-grandsons Peyton and Dawson Smith both of Morganton, a brother David McClellan, Jr. of Morganton, and her loving dog Muffett.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Ted R. Vance, an infant daughter, Deranda Evelyn Vance, her parents David and Mollie King McClellan, brothers, Bud, Lee, Fred, Ray and Roland Sr. McClellan and sisters, Nevada Woody, Alma Friday, Ethel Staton and Octavia Stamey.

A graveside service for Mrs. Vance will be held at 3:00 pm Monday June 17, 2024, in the Green Valley Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Tony Gosnell officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Webb Funeral Home 128 Roan Road Spruce Pine, NC 28777 to help the family with funeral expenses.
