Clara Burleson Dickson, age 82, of Old Cranberry Street in Newland, NC, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024.
Born on September 19, 1941, in Michell County, she was the daughter of the late C. W. Burleson and Edna Carpenter Burleson Aldridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Pickett Dickson, III, her sister, Lila Beck, and her grandson Drew Jennings.
Clara was a lifelong member of Plumtree Presbyterian Church and a board member of Avery County Library. She enjoyed playing bridge, canasta, and rook, and spending time with her family and many friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Julia DeVane of Charleston, SC; Susan Dickson (David) of Richmond, VA; and Ann Dickson (Will) of Richmond, VA; her brother, Chris Aldridge (Eva) of Lexington, KY; three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Plumtree Church. Private graveside service and interment will be at Yellow Mountain Cemetery.
