Dennis Woody, age 87, of the Riverside Community in Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024 at his home.
A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Ed and Maude Honeycutt Woody.
He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Violet Harding, Donald Woody and Dottie Mae Fields.
Dennis was a US Army Veteran and retired from Glen Raven Mills. He was a member of West Burnsville Baptist Church where he sung in the choir and was a Sunday School Teacher for 40 years.
He will always be remembered as a kind hearted, loving soul.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 62 years: Eunice Woody; sons: Denny Woody and wife, Joyce, of Spruce Pine and Bradley Woody of the home. Also surviving is his siblings: Wilma Angel, Juanita Letterman, Billie June Dale and Paul Woody and wife, Nancy as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23rd with Pastor Chris Fox officiating. Private burial will be in the West Burnsville Baptist Church Cemetery.
