Joey Styles, age 56, of the Scronce Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 28th, 2024 at his home. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Joe Ted Styles and Joann Dellinger. He was also preceded in death by sister, Jo-Ellen Styles Willis; maternal grandparents, Lee Dellinger and Lucy Pitman Dellinger; paternal grandparents, Robert and Amy Waycaster Styles and father-in-law, Rev. Lonnie Wilson. Joey attended Elk Shoal Baptist Church, where he and his family felt surrounded by love and acceptance. He loved his family dearly and was always a great supporter and protector for each of them. Above and beyond his grandchildren were the light of his life.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 36 years, Regina Wilson Styles: daughters: Makayla Thomas and husband, Andrew, Alyssa Ratliff and husband, Andrew; son, Michael Moore; two grandchildren: Elias David Thomas and Ellowyn Gabrielle Thomas; a niece and nephew he raised like his own; uncles: Doug Dellinger of Spruce Pine and Bill Dellinger of Newdale; mother-in-law, Hazel Wilson Roberts; brother-in-law, Royce Wilson and best friend, David Hopson. Numerous other extended family members also survive, as well as his wonderful Scronce Creek neighbors.
A private graveside service will be held.
