Inez Shipman Cox, age 95 of DeBary, FL, went to be with her Savior, Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at her home and surrounded by her family. Born September 7, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Columbus and Bertie Pittman Shipman of Spruce Pine, NC.
Inez was honored to be counted a member of Vansant Baptist Church. She was the last of its charter members to get to heaven. From the church’s beginning, she was dedicated to the work there through ladies’ missions, church choir, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and being a help where ever she could meet a need.
She was a southern lady who always had a kind word and smile for those she met. She was gracious to those learning a living skill under her tutelage. She loved gardening, boating, camping, bowling, and traveling, going to Canada, Europe, Hawaii and just touring the countryside with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many and loved by all.
She was preceded in death by Lamar Cox, her husband of fifty-five years. Son: Milton William (Sonny) Cox; sisters: Audrey (Ralph) Boston, June (Thomas) Nichols; brother: Charles Shipman (Betsy); nephew: Douglas (Barbara) Cox
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly and husband, Eddie Tiller of DeBary, FL; sister: Elizabeth (Edward) Pratt of Winter Haven, FL, and a special sister-of-the-heart, Alice Cox; grandchildren: Brian Tiller of Flagler Beach, FL, Patrick Tiller, Lake Mary, FL and Marcus Tiller of Orlando, FL; great-grandchildren: Jaxson Tiller, Bella Tiller, Alyssa Tiller, and Ainsley Tiller. Several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Tiller, Marcus Tiller, Jimmy Sadlowski, Richie Garland, Justin McMahan, and Josh Robinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brian Tiller, Greg Boston and Steve Cox.
Services for Mrs. Inez Cox will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Grassy Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Grassy Creek Memorial Gardens.
