Reverend Stephen Ball Honeycutt

The Reverend Stephen Ball Honeycutt, 86, Pastor of Jacks Creek Baptist Church, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather of Burnsville, NC, departed this life Thursday, August 29, 2024, after a life richly lived in faithful service and spiritual leadership.

Stephen is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Carole Corbin Honeycutt.  Stephen and Carole blended their families 40 years ago when they married November 23, 1984.  Their children are: Jay David Honeycutt (Cindy), Brian James Honeycutt, Vicki M. Highsmith (Tommy), Charles D. Meador (Roni), J. Andrew Meador (Andrea) and the late Michael T. Meador (Barbara).  Stephen is also survived by his brother, David Honeycutt (Susan).  Memories of Stephen’s love will live on in the lives of his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alden P. Honeycutt and Ruth Stella Ball; son, Michael Todd Meador and grandson, Charles Michael Dee Meador.

As a proud Veteran of the United States Army, Stephen served our country in the 11th Airborne Division in Germany from 1957-1960 as a paratrooper.  Prior to his service, Stephen graduated from Needham B. Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC.  He also graduated from the Ringling College of Art and Design located in Sarasota, FL.  Stephen was an artist and master Typographer.

Stephen cultivated love and faith which increased his desire to serve.  As a man who truly loved the Lord, Stephen helped foster many in their growth of knowing Christ.  Stephen attended both Covington Baptist and Liberty Baptist seminaries whereby he obtained his Masters of Theology.  Motivated by his love for God and service, Stephen served as a missionary in Cuba to share the gospel to those who were yet unreached.  He served the Lord as Pastor of Jacks Creek Baptist Church as well as Chaplain of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, both located in Burnsville, NC.

The family wishes to thank the loving care provided to Stephen from Compassionate Care of WNC, Laura Young and especially Stephen’s personal caregiver, Sabrina Woody.

A celebration of Stephen’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September, 28 at Jacks Creek Baptist Church at 4551 Jacks Creek Road, Burnsville.
