Hugh Wilson, age 87, of Tempie Mountain Road in Spruce Pine, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.
Born on September 1, 1937 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Horace and Elzie Biddix Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers; Everette, Dewayne, Norris and Gary Wilson and his sisters; Hazel Wyatt, Brenda Watson, Glenda Fox, Phyllis Hughes, Carolyn Murdock and Irma Burleson.
Hugh was a member of the Emmaus Road Baptist Church and was retired from Henredon Furniture. Throughout his life, he enjoyed making people smile and have a good laugh. He loved spending time with his family particularly his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Children everywhere were drawn to him. Also, he enjoyed helping other people that were in times of need.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife; Willie Graybeal Wilson of the home, his sons; Phillip Wilson of Spruce Pine and Stephen Wilson and wife, Crystal of Spruce Pine, his daughter; Zondra Goulding and husband, Robert of Drexel, NC, his sister; Mildred Wilson and husband, Jack of Marion; his grandchildren; Loveisa, Daniel, Austen, Katie, Kayla, Nick and Georgia and his great grandchildren; Andrew, Londyn, JJ, Addison, Madeline, Jax, and Cooper.
A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be Sunday, September 29, 2024 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Emmaus Road Baptist Church. The funeral service will be Sunday, September 29, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Emmaus Road Baptist Church with Rev’s. Steve Robinson and Tommy Carver officiating. Interment will be in the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
