Joseph ‘Joey’ Scott Franklin, age 62, of Jeffery Franklin Lane in Newland, passed away Monday, November 17, 2024 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.
Born on January 31, 1962 in Avery County, he was the son of the late Clyde and Tempie Ingram Franklin. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Kay Franklin and a brother, Thomas Jeffery Franklin.
Joey loved hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He worked in the shrubbery business for forty-five years.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of thirty-nine years; Lisa Calloway Franklin; his children; Joey Franklin and wife, Breanna, Betsy Ross and husband, Freddie, Mindy Franklin and Casey Franklin; and his grandchildren; Bella, Jasmine, Tristan, Cordell and Trent.
A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Big Meadows Baptist Church. The funeral service will be Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 11:00 am at Big Meadows Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Russell officiating. Interment will be in the Big Meadows Baptist Church Cemetery.
