Daniel “Danny” Christie Tokas, age 83, of Green Mountain Community, passed away Friday, November 15 th, 2024, at Madison Health and Rehabilitation. A native of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Leander and Catherine Edwards Tokas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death as well by his brother, Courtney Tokas, and stepsister, Sue Ann Tokas.
At an early age Danny began working with his father, constructing fences which later became Dannys’ profession. After moving his family to North Carolina, he started his own business, Green Mountain Fence. He had a very strong work ethic and took great pride in every project. He constructed fences for the surrounding counties which included school systems, businesses, and residences. Danny loved what he did, and it reflected in every fence that he constructed. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was known for his generosity and care for people who crossed his path. He deeply loved his family, especially his daughters and grandchildren. He was a man who was loved deeply and will be missed.
Left to survive his memory are his wife, Hildegard Tokas; two daughters: Diana Mamou (Mounier) of Covington, Georgia, and Michelle Boone (Josh) of Spruce Pine; two step-daughters: Gabrielle Charles (Fred) of Lyons, Michigan, and Christine Babcock (Steve) of Marietta, Georgia: four grandchildren: Nathan, Zachary, Hudson and Kenlie; seven step-grandchildren: Eric, Brian, Aimee, Tara, Sabrina, Rachel and Chloe; and thirteen step, great-grandchildren.
