Betty Wiseman Thomas, age 81, of Water Street in Bakersville, the Bandana community, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at her home.
Born on June 1, 1943 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Sadie Aldridge Wiseman.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Phil Thomas, Jr, who passed away in 2022. Also preceding her in death were her sisters; Isabelle Ballew, Susie Wiseman, Beulah Carpenter and Evelyn Phillips and her brothers; Joe, Ralph, Robert, Mack and Jesse Wiseman, Jr.
Betty was a member of the Mine Creek Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and also a grandmother to everyone. She was known as a giving person that loved giving to others. She enjoyed shopping and going to yard sales and to the flea market.
Left to cherish her memory is her sons; Allen Thomas of Bakersville and Kevin Thomas and wife, Lisa of Richmond, VA; her grandchildren; Nathaniel Thomas of Gastonia, Alex Thomas of Charlotte and Mary Beth Thomas of New York, NY; her sister; Emma Boone and husband, Paul of Three Mile and several nieces and nephews.
A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be Monday, December 2, 2024 at 2:00 at Mine Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Rathbone and the Rev. Russell McKinney officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 2, 2024 from 1:00 pm until the service hour at the church. Interment will be in the Silver Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a ‘Special Thank You’ to her caregiver, Lisa Grindstaff and the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge for their wonderful care of Betty during her illness.
