Bonnie Burse Buchanan, age 87, of Brushy Creek Road in Spruce Pine, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2024 at the Green’s of Spruce Pine.
Born on February 21, 1937 in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Cordie Jane Rose. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Everett Burse and later, her second husband, Robert Buchanan. In addition to her husbands, she was also preceded in death by her brothers; Herman and Bernard Rose; her sister; Helen Clark and her beloved fur babies; Butch and Shippu.
Bonnie was a member of the Green Valley Baptist Church. She dearly loved her family and animals. She attended the Avery County Senior Center in Newland and was known in her younger days to walk with her husband, Evie, from her home on Brushy Creek Road to Spruce Pine every week.
Left to cherish her memory is her nephew; Terry Burse and wife, Melanie; her nieces; Betty Fletcher and husband, Jerry and Mayola Decker and husband, Ronnie. She also leaves behind several cherished friends, Connie Nix, Gabi McLendon, Cappie Vance and her cousin, Debra Rose and husband, Larry Cole of Morganton who helped care for her in her later years.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service for Bonnie Burse on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Alvin Carpenter officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the church. Interment will be in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a ‘Special Thank You’ to the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge and the staff of the Green’s of Spruce Pine for their loving care of Bonnie during her illness.
