The Mitchell Miners middle school wrestling team hosted their second home meet in as many weeks, and showed good improvement against a tough Watauga team.
Watauga picked up two early forfeits before Cullen Sparks scored a first period pin to start the scoring for the Miners. Issac Crone, Diego Arvizu, Easton Trivitt and Evan Payne each picked up critical pins for the Miners in the middle weights to help lead the team to a 54-40 win over the Pioneers. The Miners will host Swain County as part of the “Wrestling Bridges The Gap” fundraiser dual meet event next Tuesday at Mitchell High School.
