Tony Allen Honeycutt, age 75, of the Big Creek Community passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on December 19th, 2024. He was the son of the late Glen and Maudie Honeycutt. In addition to his parents, Tony is also preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Freiter. Tony was a devoted son, beloved brother, loving husband, proud father, and cherished Papaw who will be remembered for his honesty, strength, and unwavering dedication to his family and country. Tony proudly served in the United States Army, a commitment that shaped much of his life. His time in the service instilled in him values of discipline, courage, and sacrifice, which he carried with him long after his service ended. A man of integrity, Tony was known for being straight forward and honest, never afraid to speak his mind even when the truth was difficult to hear. His candidness is part of what made him such a reliable and respected man. He could always be counted on to give sound advice and his words were grounded in a genuine desire to help. His no-nonsense approach to life earned him much admiration. Tony loved the mountains and the holler he called home, as he often spoke of how there was no place he would rather be.
Riding through the mountains on horseback was one of Tony’s greatest joys, a way for him to connect with both nature and his heritage. There was something about the rhythm of hooves on the dirt trails and the wide-open spaces of the hills that filled him with peace.
Tony is survived by his beloved spouse of 36 years, Felicia Honeycutt; Children: Brannigan Honeycutt (Amber), Vance Honeycutt (Tori), Kayla Peterson (Josh), and Abigail Briggs (Dillon); Grandchildren (who brought him so much joy): Lane, Kambre, Maraya, Liam, Adilynn, Braxton, Declan, Cole, Tessa, and Evelynn, who is expected in February 2025; Brother, Ronnie Honeycutt of Florida and Sister, Yvonne Baldwin of Kentucky. Many extended family and loved ones also survive.
