Bobby Buchanan age 85 of Bakersville the Ledger community passed away Tuesday January 21, 2025, at the Yancey House in Burnsville.
Born in Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Holden and Dolly Pitman Buchanan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers James, Joe, and Clarence Buchanan and a sister Margaret Greene.
Bobby was a veteran of the US Marines and served as President of High Valley Construction and Maintenance and Water Worx Car Wash in Ledger, he was a member of Pine Branch Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and was an Assistant Sunday School teacher. Bobby had received a community service award from the Governor, and he enjoyed hunting and exercise.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of fifty-nine years Vernell Martin Buchanan, son Matthew Buchanan and wife Libby, granddaughters Sarah and Chloe, brother Dean Buchanan and sisters, Judy Murphy, Pauline Burleson and Kathryn Pate.
Funeral services for Mr. Buchanan will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday January 26, 2025, at Pine Branch Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Pine Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
