Irene Wiseman, age 85, of the Ingalls Community, went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 26th, 2025 at Life Care Center of Banner Elk. A native of Avery County, she was a daughter of the late Joe and Nell Hicks Wiseman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jessie “Buck” Tom Wiseman; an infant son, Billy Tom Wiseman, and three sisters: Jean Blackburn, Betty Pendley and Ada Taylor.
Irene enjoyed traveling to yard sales, seeing what new treasures she could find. She also liked being outdoors, tending to all her beautiful flowers, as well as listening to bluegrass music, and watching Little House on the Prairie on television while drinking her Sunkist drinks. Most importantly, she loved her family more than anything on earth, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought so much joy to her life. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Michael Wiseman (Yvonne) of Hickory, Tammy Ramsey (James) and Judy Ollis (Randy), all of Newland; six grandchildren: Michael Wiseman (Kimberly), Michelle Mader (Yair), Brittany Marshall (Lee), Brent Ramsey (Katelyn), Angel Moore and Austin Moore; three great-grandchildren: Jackson, Jamie and Baylor; two brothers: L.J. Wiseman (Debbie) and Dennis Wiseman (Becky); seven sisters: Christine Edwards, Arlene Huskins, Judy McKinney, Patty Mayhan (Jerry), Kathy Haney, Zola Nelson (David) and Brenda Jennings; and in-laws, Emma and Paul Boone. She is survived as well by many extended family members.
The family will be receiving friends at the home of Brittany Marshall at 36 Rhododendron Drive in Newland, located on Three Mile, from 4 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 2nd. Inurnment will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 3rd at Pine Grove Methodist Church Cemetery in Spruce Pine. Rev. Bob Ivans will officiate.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Life Care Center of Banner Elk, Compassionate Hearts Home Care, and Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge for the wonderful care given to Irene.
