Cindy Parker, age 72 of Green Mountain, NC, went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 9th, 2025, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.
Born on June 11th, 1952, she was the daughter of the late William Edward Bailey and Helen McKinney Bailey. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Michael Edward Bailey.
Cindy lived a very full and interesting life. In her younger years, she rode motorcycles all over the country. She loved to travel and lived in places like Canada and Puerto Rico. She loved flowers, plants, and nature. She always had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs and birds. She raised finches and was a dog trainer for the police department in Texas. She graduated from Deer Park High School in 1970 and later received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston.
She was artistic and loved stained glass and windchimes. She had a loom and enjoyed making rugs as well as making pottery. She loved to read and had hundreds of books.
What Cindy was most known for was teaching. She had a natural talent, a gift you might say, for nurturing the minds of young children; kindergarten age children, specifically. She was patient and kind. She started teaching in Texas but spent the majority of her career in North Carolina. She truly had a way with children and easily formed special bonds. Simply put, her kids adored her. She was the epitome of a kind and loving woman and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Emily Hughes and her father, Keith Parker Sr.; grandson, Gabriel Hughes; granddaughter, Rylie Hughes; stepdaughter, Tina Parker; stepson, Keith Parker Jr.; partner, Gary Porter; best friend, Debbie McDonald; as well as many extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 16th, 2025, in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation for one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Roger Hilemon will be officiating. Upon her request, Cindy’s final resting place will be in the mountains of Wolf Creek Pass in Montana.
Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home is respectfully serving the Parker family.
