Angela Johnson Hughes, age 62, of the Spruce Pine Community, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 14th, 2025 at the Solace Center in Asheville. She was a daughter of the late Hall and Ruth Hughes Johnson.
Angela was a people person, who never met a stranger. She loved to play bingo with everyone at the Greens in Spruce Pine. She was a fine sister and mother who loved her family, especially her dad. Angela will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Bobby Dean Hughes (Amber) of Spruce Pine; her siblings: Jim Miller of Bakersville, Phyllis Starnes of Hickory, Carolyn Howell of Jonesborough, TN. and Ava Jean Honeycutt of Burnsville; aunt, Doris Jean Tipton; cousins: Susan Fox, Shelia Tipton and Jeannie Phillips; niece, Kimberly Sencindiver and nephew Dewayne Honeycutt; granddaughter, Alyssa Hughes. Numerous other extended family members also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 21st in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. Rev. David Gillespie and Rev. Rick Bennett will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bailey Cemetery in Popular. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
