Mitchell County Chamber Hosts Economic Impact Forum

The Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce hosted an Economic Impact Forum on March 7, 2025, at Mayland Community College. The event brought together approximately 100 chamber members, local leaders, and economic development experts to analyze and discuss the economic landscape of Mitchell County following the impact of Hurricane Helene.

The forum featured an esteemed panel of speakers, including Bill Slagle from the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC), economic strategist Dan Gerlach of Dan Gerlach, LLC, North Carolina Representative Dudley Greene, and North Carolina Senator Ralph Hise. Each speaker provided valuable insights into the county’s economic recovery, highlighting key data on unemployment and industry data.

The presenters shared statistical data that highlighted the latest data around the economic shifts in Mitchell County. Attendees gained insights into state and federal funding to date around Hurricane Helene recovery as well as updates for ongoing legislative bills.

The Chamber extends its appreciation to Mayland Community College for hosting the event and to all presenters and attendees for their contributions to this important discussion. The insights gathered during the forum will serve as an aid for continued economic recovery efforts and long-term planning for the county’s recovery.
