Amber Lowery, executive director of Mitchell County Animal Rescue, provided the program on MCAR’s history, journey through Hurricane Helene and recovery, and plans for the future facility on the campus of Mayland Community College. Chapter T members donated items from MCAR’s needs list along with financial gifts in support of the rescued, homeless and displaced animals of our community.

The Spruce Pine chapter of P.E.O. was founded in 1970 and provides scholarships for local girls and women pursuing their educational goals. P.E.O. International has been celebrating “women helping women reach for the stars” for more than 150 years.
