Douglas Edward Honeycutt, age 78, of Buladean, went Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 15th, 2025, at his home. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Burnie and Beretha Forbes Honeycutt. He was preceded in death as well by his loving wife of 57 years, Sue Burleson Honeycutt; two brothers: Milburn and Marshall Honeycutt; and two sisters: Christine Buchanan and Helen Ryan.
Douglas proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He owned a paint and body repair automotive shop, and loved working on old cars. Family was very important to him, and he cherished the time he got to spend with them all, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was the pastor of Fork Mountain Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Surviving are two sons: David Honeycutt (Melissa) of Bakersville, Matthew Honeycutt (Crystal) of Elizabethton, TN; eight grandchildren: Jake Honeycutt (April), Jessica Honeycutt (Tyler), Kameron Honeycutt (Hannah Hart), all of Bakersville; Jacob Finley of Sulphur Springs, Diana Peters of Elizabethton, TN, Kacey Peters of Bakersville, Zack Peters of Elizabethton, TN, and Ashley Wilson of Johnson City, TN; seven great-grandchildren: Piper Honeycutt, Quinton Silvers, Karson Honeycutt, Daxton Yelton, Braylon Honeycutt, McKenzie Arrowood and Joey Arrowood; a brother, Bernie Bradley Honeycutt (Louise) of Bakersville, and sister, Evelyn Street (J.P.) of Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 24th at Fork Mountain Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Rev. G.B. Garland and Rev David Byrd will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25th at the Melton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jake Honeycutt, David Honeycutt, Matthew Honeycutt, Kam Honeycutt, Tommy Morgan and Donald Johnson. Honorary pallbearer will be Barry Williams.
