Due to extreme fire danger, Yancey County has declared a State of Emergency. The threat of wildfires is high due to dry conditions and increased fuel load on the forest floor. All residents and personnel are urged to comply with the Emergency Operations plan to ensure safety. The burn ban remains in effect . Anyone caught open burning will be cited immediately.
This proclamation includes the Town of Burnsville. Effective immediately until further notice.
