
The Bee Rock Branch Fire is burning in a rugged area north of Armstrong Creek Rd. and south of Wild Acres Rd. in northern McDowell County. The fire is estimated to have burned 175 acres and is currently 0% contained. Firefighters will continue to work through the night along Armstrong Creek Rd., and Wild Acres Rd. to increase containment and provide structure protection.
There was an evacuation order for all residences and structures on Wild Acres Rd. off NC 226 A, located just south of Little Switzerland.
The fire is being managed through unified command under the direction of the NC Forest Service and US Forest Service
The Marshall Fire Department responded yesterday afternoon when a fallen power line started a blaze on a number of dead white pines. The road was closed at 1100 Block of Rector Corner Rd. That fire is expected to remain in the established fire lines.
NC Forest Service personnel will continue to monitor the fire over the next couple days.
