The Orchard at Altapass has been buzzing with activity over the winter months, as our dedicated team has worked tirelessly to prepare for the 2025 season. We’re thrilled to open our doors on May 10th, to welcome back guests to experience the beauty, history, and community spirit of our beloved Orchard, nestled against the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains.
To kick off the season, we have an exciting series of events to support our mission – to preserve and protect the history and culture of the Blue Ridge:
– Spring Spruce Up (April 28, 10 AM – 3 PM)
Join us for a volunteer workday to help polish the Orchard for opening day! We’ll be sprucing up walking trails, tending to our Pollinator Garden, and readying the store and pavilion areas. Lunch is on us for all volunteers—please RSVP by April 25 to marketing@altapassorchard.org.
– Bluegrass at Altapass (May 3, 10 AM – 5 PM)
Our soft-opening fundraiser is a can’t-miss celebration of Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel music! This all-day festival features live performances, pie and ice cream, a free guitar drawing, clogging lessons, and more. Proceeds will support recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene, funding critical repairs for erosion and landslides across the Orchard. Admission is free, donations are welcome.
– Gospel Hymn Sing (May 25, 3 PM – 4 PM)
An annual tradition, this family-friendly event unites Altapass Baptist Church and Altapass Church of God for an afternoon of uplifting music and fellowship, set against the Orchard’s breathtaking views.
– 3rd Annual Pipes on the Parkway (June 7, Noon – 4 PM)
Celebrate our region’s Scots-Irish heritage with the soulful sounds of bagpipes and traditional music. This lively event blends history, harmony, and family fun, promising a memorable day for all.
All events will take place at The Orchard at Altapass, located at 1025 Orchard Road, Spruce Pine, NC. The Orchard officially opens for the 2025 season on May 10, operating Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM to 5 PM throughout May.
Please note: The Blue Ridge Parkway remains under repair due to Hurricane Helene. The section in front of the Orchard is currently accessible from NC-226 to Altapass Hwy. For detailed directions, visit https://altapassorchard.org/
