Juanita Cook Holtsclaw

Juanita Cook Holtsclaw, age 86, of Cook Lane in Spruce Pine, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.

Born on September 16, 1938 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Helen McKinney Cook. She was also preceded in death by her husband, AG Holtsclaw who passed away in 2023. Also preceding her in death was her daughter; Scarlett Dale, son-in-law; Kenny Dale, a granddaughter; Amanda Dale and her brothers; Ronnie and Wayne Cook.

Juanita was a member of the Grassy Creek Baptist Church and sang in the church choir. For many years she sang in the Gethsemane Quartet and spread the gospel through her music. She was a loving mother and grandmother and she loved all of her family and spending time with them. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, bowling, and crocheting.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters; Cheryl Dale of the home and Sandy Wheeler and husband, Nate of Burnsville, her grandchildren; Adam Dale and wife, Holly, Aaron Dale and wife, Janet, Denise Self and husband, Gene, April Boring and husband, John, Jason Dale and wife, Maria, Amber Lowery and husband, Bobby, Jordon Randolph and husband, TJ and Michaela Owenby and husband, Blake, seventeen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and one on the way, her brother; Ricky Cook and wife, Michelle, her sister, Cindy Blevins and husband, Richard, her sister-in-law; Brenda Cook, her son-in-law; Norman Dale and several special nieces and nephews.

A time to share memories, support the family and receive friends will be on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Grassy Creek Baptist Church. The service honoring the life of Juanita Holtsclaw will be on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 2:00 pm at grassy Creek Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Gene Self and Daniel Whetstine officiating. Interment will be in Grassy Creek Memorial Gardens.
