Charles Renfro, Jr.

Charles Renfro, Jr., age 92, of the Estatoe community went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 21, 2025. He was the son of the late Charlie and Delphia Davis Renfro. He was preceded in death by his two brothers; Dewey and Rev. Dallas Renfro and an infant sister; Leona Renfro.

Charles proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a machine mechanic in the textile industry for many years and later retired as plant manager. He enjoyed camping and fishing. He played guitar and sang harmony for the ‘Toe River Valley Boys’, which gave him his love for bluegrass music.

He was a fifty-year member of the Spruce Pine Moose Lodge and was responsible for starting the campground. He still had the same camp spot he cleared out many years ago. He always enjoyed building a campfire and all would gather to tell stories and jokes and sometimes a few history notes.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years; Louise Allen Renfro, a daughter; Sherry Jones and husband, JJ, his two sons; Vann Renfro and Chris Renfro and wife, Norma all of Spruce Pine. He was so proud of his grandchildren; Ryan Renfro, Jordan Jones and wife, Kelly, Rachael Renfro, Kasey Schwock and husband, Kevin, Lindsey Clevenger and husband, Will, Grayson Renfro and wife, Rhema, his two great grandchildren that would light up his world; Lucy and Jett Jones and a host of nieces and nephews.
