Anna Lee Banks Higgins, age 85 of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
Although she had medical issues, Anna was a strong woman living much longer than medical professionals expected.
Anna was the last survivor of 14 siblings born to Agnes and Charlie Banks of Burnsville, NC. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Marvin Higgins. She is survived by her son, James Higgins; her daughter, Janice Morgan, and husband, David; she also leaves behind many beloved friends, neighbors, and generations of nieces and nephews.
Anna and Marvin gave their children a good country life on a dairy farm. After farming, Marvin became a contractor – serving as president of the local home builders association, while Anna became a real estate broker.
Anna requested no funeral service, but there will be a receiving of friends at Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home on April 27th, from 2-4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Rutherford County at the following address: 374 Hudlow Road, Forest City, NC 28043.
