Marvin Eugene Silvers

Marvin Eugene Silvers, age 70, of the Double Island community went Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Marvin was a son of the late Baxter and Bernice Higgins Silvers, he is also preceded in death by a sister, Ina Jean Pate; brother-in-law, Bronas Pate; sister-in-law, Tammy Edwards and mother-in-law, Madge Harding.

Marvin was a true outdoorsman, who loved hunting, shooting and especially shooting clays. He never met a stranger, he loved talking to anyone he met. He would always take his family on great adventures and make lasting memories. Marvin was the President of the Mount Mitchell Archery Club and helped with the 4-H shooters in Yancey County. He loved his church and church family at Pleasant Gap Baptist Church.

Surviving is his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy Silvers; son, Jason Silvers; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Silvers all of Green Mountain, NC; great grand-son, Grayson Silvers; sister, Betty Franklin (Danny) of Marion, NC; brothers: Ronnie Silvers (Ruth) of Burnsville, NC and Garry Silvers (Debbie) of Green Mountain, NC; sisters-in-law: Linda Hughes (Danny) of Green Mountain and Meichell Ford (David) of Burnsville; brothers-in-law: Michael Harding (Kim) of Hickory, NC and Richard Silver (Olena) of Burnsville; father-in-law, JC Harding (Eloise) of Green Mountain, NC. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. Rev. Vern Grindstaff will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 4th in the Fred Young Cemetery in Double Island.
