Rachel Washburn Greene, age 88, of Carter’s Ridge Road in Spruce Pine, passed away Monday, May 19, 2025 at The Green’s of Spruce Pine.
Born on October 16, 1936 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Nettie Carpenter Washburn. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters; Mary Huskins, Elva Elliott, Betty Jarrett, and Juanita McNeill and her brother; James Washburn.
Rachel was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and she was retired from Baxter Healthcare. She was a wonderful wife and loving mother. She was also a great artist and seamstress. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and working in her vegetable garden and canning.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of sixty-eight years; Johnny Greene of the home, her son; Randy Greene and wife, Sandra of Spruce Pine, her sisters; Kimesia Burleson and husband, J.C. of Spruce Pine and Joan Hall and husband, James of Vancouver, WA, her brother; John Washburn and wife, Bertha of Spruce Pine, several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service honoring the life of Rachel Greene will be 2:00 pm on Friday, May 23, 2025 in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with Dr. Darrin Waldroup officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services and interment will be in the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
