Elizabeth Allen Blevins, age 90, of Possum Trot, went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 15th, 2025, at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Kirby and Lora Wilson Allen. She was preceded in death as well by her husband, Oliver Blevins, and long-time companion, Charles Nunley; son, Edward Blevins; great, great-granddaughter, Amelia Mae Lee Bennett; sister, Mary Styles; infant sister, Emma Lou Allen; and 2 infant brothers: Floyd and Paul Allen.
It was always so important to Elizabeth to be in church, and her unwavering faith was the foundation of her life. It was always so important to her to be in church, and she spent her life instilling her faith and values in her children, teaching them to raise their families right and walk in the ways of the Lord. Anytime you saw Elizabeth, she was wearing a smile that could light up a room, and always had a hug for everyone she met, having never met a stranger. She was known for saying, “I love you,” to everyone, and it came from the heart – every word, every time. Elizabeth will forever be known as a kind soul who had a heart of gold, and she will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved her, and whose life she ever touched. She will leave a void in our hearts, but we are comforted knowing she is now rejoicing in Heaven with her loved ones and embraced by her Lord and Savior.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Wanda Holmes (Johnny), Willa Mae Bennett (Jerry), Wilma Wheeler (Don), and Howard Blevins (Merianne); 10 grandchildren: Daron Holmes (Tracy), Brandi Holmes (Stacie), Crystal Khalid (Shah), Joey Bennett (Michelle), Donna Fortner (John), Kenny Wheeler, Courtney Blevins, Justin Blevins (Miranda), Edward Blevins (Brittany), and Andrew Blevins; 21 great-grandchildren, and 9 great, great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 20th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. Rev. Scot Garland and Rev. Buck Thomason will officiate. Burial will follow in the Holcombe-McIntosh Cemetery on Possum Trot. Pallbearers will be Caelan Holmes, Dustin Wilson, Dawson Peterson, Jeremiah Fortner, Ben Holmes, Shaw Khalid, and honorary pallbearer, Joshua Fortner. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
