Ronald Eugene Thomas, age 76, of the Pigeon Roost community went Home to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 25th, 2025. Ronald was a son of the late Paul and Pearl Byrd Thomas. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Elaine Thomas; grandson, Matthew Scott Church and siblings, Dennis Thomas and Carolyn Peterson.
Ronald started in life working as a pipe fitter. Later he drove a truck for Young and McQueen for a number of years. He was a man of faith and served the Lord by spreading the gospel for over 40 years. Ronald loved people and his passion to help others was shown abundantly to everyone who knew him. He met the love of his life in the 4th grade and they were married for 58½ years. Together they created a beautiful family that he enjoyed spending time with.
Left to cherish Ronald’s memory are his beloved wife, Connie Elaine Hughes Thomas; children: Willadean Hansen (Robert) of Pigeon Roost and Micky Thomas (Janet) of Whitesville, NC; grandchildren: Joshua Scott Hansen (Keisha), Michael Paul Hansen (Tara) and Lisa Marie Thomas; great-grandchildren: Henry Cox, Riley Hansen, Caleb Hansen and Logan Hansen.
Funeral Services will be held at 2p.m. on Sunday, June 29th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Pastor Dustin Sturgill will officiate. Burial will follow in the Peterson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh, Michael, Caleb, Keith, Kyle, Chad and Nick. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
