The stage is set for a wonderful afternoon this Saturday from 10am-noon on the Burnsville Town Square! During the Sizzlin’ Summer Series, Parkway Playhouse will offer an enchanting free performance of “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” Whether you’re young, old, or somewhere in between, gather your family, friends, and neighbors for a perfect summer Saturday packed with art, theatre, and reading.
At 10:00am, enjoy some hands-on art with Penland School of Crafts. Kick off the fun by joining teaching artists from Penland for a free, drop-in craft activity. All ages can roll up their sleeves, make something special, and take it home as a memento of the day.
Then at 10:30am Parkway Playhouse will present The Emperor’s New Clothes. Snuggle onto your blanket or settle into a lawn chair for a 30-minute professional performance of this classic tale, adapted and directed by local playwright Chelsea Wilson Thayer and brought to life by Parkway Playhouse’s talented cast.
Finally, at 11:00am stick around for an exciting free book giveaway! To keep the magic of storytelling alive long after the curtain falls, children can choose a FREE book to take home (while supplies last). Browse, pick a favorite, and let the summer reading adventures begin!
