Following the incident that occurred on July 7, 2025, the Yancey County Sheriff’s Office has
formally charged Linc Nolan Bloomfield, 61, with two counts of Shooting Into an Occupied
Vehicle. Additional charges have been filed by neighboring counties agencies that were also
involved in this incident. Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office has charged Bloomfield with one count of Shooting Into an Occupied Vehicle. Avery County Sheriff’s Office has charged him with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. Burnsville Police Department has filed a charge of Common Law Robbery.
Bloomfield is currently being held in the Avery County Detention Center under no bond and has
been served with the charges from all four agencies involved. Yancey County Sheriff’s Office advises this is an active and ongoing investigation and additional charges may be forthcoming.
