Calling all bakers! Who bakes the best fruit-based pie in Yancey County? Find out at Dig In! Yancey Community Garden’s Fruit Fest on Friday, August 22 from 4-7PM at Birdfoot and Hearth Glass at 10 Orchard Drive in Burnsville.
Dig In is seeking submissions for fruit pies in two categories of competition: youth (17 & under) and adult (18+). Entry is free, and prizes for winners! Pies must be pre-entered by Wednesday, August 20. Read the rules and register online on the Dig In website. www.diginyancey.org/fruit-fest-2025/
We’re also auctioning off a place on our elite judging panel via online silent auction. Auction closes on Thursday, August 21. Proceeds benefit Dig In’s food sharing programs. Judges get to taste all the pies!
Festivities also include glass blowing demonstrations, vendors with locally grown and produced fruit products, live music, games, face-painting, and an activity booth sponsored by Toe River Arts Council. Join us from 4-7PM on Friday, August 22!
