A tractor-trailer crash on NC 226 North, also known as Coxes Creek or Marion Mountain, shut down one lane of the highway for an extended period Thursday afternoon, July24th, according to McDowell County Emergency Services.
Emergency crews responded to the scene around 1:33 p.m. on July 24 after the truck overturned. The driver was injured and airlifted to Mission Hospital in Asheville.
One lane remained open while crews worked to remove the vehicle. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
