Amaryllis Wilson

Amaryllis Wilson, age 95, of the Pensacola community, passed on to her heavenly home on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.  A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Hutchins and Carrie Ogle Passmore.  She is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, JE Wilson; a son, Russell Wilson; and brothers-in-law: Arthur, Ralph, Geter, Willard and Robert Wilson.

Amaryllis was a dedicated member of Laurel Branch Baptist Church and loved her church family as much as her own. She could always be found working outside in her flower gardens and enjoying their natural beauty. Amaryllis was passionate about family genealogy and learning about her ancestors. She loved crocheting afghans and blankets, but she loved spending time with her friends and family most of all.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Dwight Wilson and his wife Michelle of Live Oak, Florida; a grandson, Steven Wilson of Kerrville, Texas; granddaughter, Courtney Wilson of Wilmington, NC; brothers-in-law: Frank and David Wilson; sisters-in-law: Barbara Watts and Anna Kate Cook.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025 at the Penland Cemetery.  Rev. Ray Strickland will officiate.

Memorial donations may be made to Laurel Branch Baptist Church, 12 Pensacola School Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714; Compassionate Care Western North Carolina at 856 Georges Fork Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714 or to CarePartners Hospice Solace Center, 21 Belvedere Rd, Asheville, NC 28803.
