HCA Healthcare’s Mission Hospital has been named one of the 2025-2026 Best Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, a recognition of its continued commitment to high-quality, compassionate care in Western North Carolina. The annual rankings were released this week at US News & World Report.

“This distinction measures, among other things, our strong performance in patient safety, mortality rates, and preventable complications, which reflects the exceptional skill and compassion of our staff,” said Greg Lowe, CEO of Mission Hospital and Mission Health. “We are honored to serve our community and remain committed to continually advancing the quality of care we deliver.”

Mission Hospital was the only hospital in Western North Carolina on the Best Hospital’s list, and was named among the top 10 hospitals in the state, reinforcing its role as a leader in patient-centered care for the region.

Mission Hospital earned this prestigious designation based on its strong performance in multiple specialties, procedures, and patient safety indicators. U.S. News evaluated more than 4,400 hospitals across 15 adult specialties and 22 procedures and conditions; only 13% of evaluated hospitals earned a Best Hospitals designation.

“For most Americans, health care decisions are made close to home. The Best Regional Hospitals rankings underscore the difference high-performing local medical centers make,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News & World Report. “These rankings, entirely performance-driven, equip individuals and their families, in consultation with their medical providers, to choose the highest quality care available in their own communities.”

The full rankings are available online and will also be published in U.S. News & World Report’s upcoming “Best Hospitals 2026 Guidebook” (ISBN 979-8-9864591-5-8), available for order from the U.S. News Online Store.
