My memoir, “Child of Silence-A Blessing in Disguise,” is now available at the Plott Hound Bookstore in downtown Burnsville, NC, just off Town Square.
The book’s central theme is one of hope and inspiration, demonstrating that perseverance and a positive outlook can lead to a rewarding life.
The title came from being raised in a quiet household of deaf parents and later being the silent man in the courtroom as a court reporter. Listening and observing was the natural segue to fine art photography.
The book contains numerous small photographs intended to bring the words and events on the page to life.

About the Author
- Allen Benowitz is a multi-faceted individual whose career spans court reporting, fine art photography, and writing. A former world speed champion in court reporting, he has published over 30 articles and exhibited his photography in more than 60 art shows, including a private reception at the Musee du Louvre. At 83, Benowitz continues to inspire through his writing, photography, and monthly gourmet dining events. He lives in Miami, Florida, with his life partner, Terry Diamond.
