Danny Wyatt, age 77, of McKinney Mine Road in Spruce Pine, the Little Switzerland community, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.
Born on July 12, 1948 in McDowell County, he was the son of the late Floyd Daniel Wyatt, Sr. and the late Mattie Duncan Wyatt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marcheta Burnette Wyatt. Also preceding him in death was his son; Kevin Daniel Wyatt, his sisters; Polly Wyatt and Ruby Stroud and his brothers; James and Ricky Wyatt.
Danny was a member of the Faith Missionary Baptist Church. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army that served his country in the Vietnam War. He retired from the U.S. Forest Service. His church and church family were important to him. He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed Nascar Racing and football. Danny was always smiling and never met a stranger. His faith in the Lord was and carried him through his last few years.
Left to cherish his memories are mother-in-law; Zeddie Burnette of Little Switzerland, his brother-in-law; Greg Burnette of Little Switzerland, his sister-in-law; Linda Wyatt, his god daughter; Lisa Hoilman, numerous nieces and nephews, and his companion, Kona.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 12:00 noon at the Faith Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Gary Greene and Homer Murdock officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at Faith Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Burnette Cemetery. Military Graveside rites will be provided by Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter #57 D.A.V.
