Diane Brunet Moore, age 81, of Cliff Buchanan Road in Spruce Pine, the Estatoe community, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.
Born on October 6, 1943 in Eunice, LA, she was the daughter of the late Nalence and Jeanne Zammit Brunet. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Larry Moore who passed away in 2013 and a sister, Marlene Perry.
Diane was a member of St. Lucien Catholic Church. She graduated high school in 1960 and was the co-valedictorian of her class. She then attended the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in New Orleans, LA and graduated in 1963. She spent her working career in nursing and along the way was instrumental in organizing Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge in Spruce Pine.
She was a volunteer for the animal shelters in Avery and Mitchell Counties. She loved attending her church and church functions. She enjoyed helping others, cooking, shopping, reading and listening to Christian music.
Left to cherish her memories are her children; Lisa Watson and husband, Richard of Bristol, TN, Greg Peterson and wife, Stacey of Bluff City, TN, Rachel Calendar of Austin, TX, David Moore of Spruce Pine, Kevin Moore of Marion, Ryan Moore and wife, Elizabeth of Marion and Paula Moore of Spruce Pine, her sisters; Esther Arceneaux of Lafayette, LA. Ann Broussard of Abbeville, LA, Christene Stutes of Carencro, LA and Carolyn Harris and husband, David of Abbeville, LA, her brothers; David Brunet and wife, Pam of Nashville, AR, Stephen Brunet and wife, Danette of Nashville, AR and Thomas Brunet of Baton Rouge, LA, twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 2:00 at St. Lucien Catholic Church with Father Christopher Bond officiating. A rosary service will be on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 10:00 am at Webb Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Moore Family Cemetery.
