Medical Supply Giveaway at Harris Middle School; Must Go!

The Center for Rural Health Innovation is preparing to wrap up its space at Harris Middle School in Spruce Pine by the end of this month, and with it comes an opportunity for the community.

Program Director Lenore Ellis says the school site still holds a large inventory of medical and clinical supplies—items generously donated. Rather than see them go to waste, the Center is inviting community members, schools, and other nonprofits to take what they can use.

“These are donations, so no one should be paying for them, and they are not for resale,” Ellis emphasized. “Get creative—whether you need gloves for an art project, surgical gowns for a classroom activity, or gauze for a Halloween costume.”

Anyone interested in browsing the supplies is encouraged to bring a truck or trailer. To arrange a visit, contact Ellis at (828) 201-2747 or lenore.ellis@crhi.org. Messages can be left if calls aren’t answered right away.

The Center also encourages residents and nonprofits to share the opportunity widely. “We don’t want to throw anything away,” Ellis added.
