Spruce Pine Bar-B-Q and Bluegrass October 4th!

It is BBQ time again in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina.  This year we hope to see lots of people downtown enjoying the most delicious BBQ and listening to our new music lineup.  The date is October 4, 2025 from 10 am – 6 pm and will be downtown Spruce Pine on Locust Street (locals know it as Lower Street).  The Rotary club of Spruce Pine sponsors the Spruce Pine BBQ Festival and uses the proceeds to fund local non-profits in our area as well as educational opportunities in our school system.

The festival activities include tasty BBQ, many food and craft vendors, Clever Rabbit Axe Throwing, music all day, face painting, activities for kids, and more.  The music schedule is as follows:

10 am – noon  Yesteryear

Noon – 2 pm    Carolina Bluegrass Style

2 pm – 4 pm    JAM – Jody and Mark

4 pm – 6 pm    Rhonda Gouge and Friends

Yesteryear is new this year from Asheville led by Shaun Dicks

Carolina Bluegrass Style is from Columbia, SC and bluegrass is their specialty

JAM is a staple in our area for country as well as country rock music

Rhonda Gouge is a fixture in the music scene and we are so proud she is from Mitchell County.  She is an Appalachian musician and performer, plays at least a dozen instruments, and has recorded multiple albums under her own name and others as well.  She has performed with legendary musicians such as Red Wilson, awarded the North Carolina Heritage Award in 2023, and featured in August 2025 Our State magazine as “Old Time Picker.”

The admission charge is $5/person with kids 12 and under FREE.  This admission charge has given us the ability to build a playground in Riverside Park (which needs to be re-built), purchase a storage shed for the Giving Gardens, provide a freezer for our local food bank, college scholarships for high school seniors, and many more deserving local projects.

Plan to treat yourself to some delicious bbq and listen to the music.

Don’t miss this annual event in downtown Spruce Pine, October 4, 2025 from 10 am – 6 pm.
