The Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on
Friday, September 19, 2025, to celebrate the reopening of Spruce Pine Florist in its new location on Oak
Avenue. The beloved downtown business was devastated nearly one year ago when Hurricane Helene
destroyed its previous shop on Locust Avenue.
A large crowd of community members, customers, and supporters gathered to welcome Spruce Pine
Florist back to the heart of downtown Spruce Pine. The new storefront marks a fresh beginning for the
business while continuing its tradition of serving the community with creative floral arrangements and
personalized service.
“This reopening is not just about a business returning—it’s about resilience, commitment, and the
strength of our downtown,” said Bill Slagle, Executive Director of the Mitchell County Chamber of
Commerce and Economic Development Commission. “Spruce Pine Florist has always been an important
part of our community, and we are thrilled to see them back, stronger than ever, in this beautiful new
location.”
The ribbon cutting is part of the Chamber’s continued effort to support businesses rebuilding and
thriving in the wake of Hurricane Helene. The Chamber extends gratitude to the community for showing
up in celebration and for continuing to support local businesses.
Spruce Pine Florist is now open at its new Oak Avenue location, ready to welcome customers and help
celebrate life’s moments with fresh flowers and hometown service.
