Gladys Jones Rose

Gladys Jones Rose, age 85, of Fisher Road in Spruce Pine, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025 at the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.

Born on September 7, 1940 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Cicero and Pearl Fisher Jones. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Rose. Also preceding her in death was her daughter, Deborah Thomas, her grandchildren; Simon, Lewis, Jr. and Brittany, her sister; Wilma Lee and her brothers; Lester, Robert, Coy, Ben, Johnny and Lawrence Jones.

Gladys was a member of the Green Valley Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, church secretary and sang in the choir.

She was a hardworking person that had a firm personality but was loving and caring. Prior to her declining health, she was the person in her family that cared for everyone’s needs. She enjoyed cooking and baking and sharing with family, friends and neighbors.

Left to cherish her memories are her son; Lewis ‘Mater’ Rose and wife, Sue Ann of Spruce Pine, her daughter; Deonne Silvers of Tennessee, her son-in-law; Ray Thomas of Newland, honorary daughter; Bobbie Jo Laws and husband, Jerry of Burnsville, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and several nephews.

The funeral service for Gladys Rose will be on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Griffith officiating. Interment will be in the Green Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
