Floyd Barnett Holcombe (June 18th, 1953 – October 13th, 2025), age 72, of the Estatoe Community, unexpectedly passed from this temporary home on Monday, October 13th. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, and a native of Mitchell County, he was preceded in death by his father, Gay Owen Holcombe; mother, Betty Lou Howell Holcombe; and one sister, Gay Loretta Garland.
Floyd was a kindhearted and giving man. He never let anyone in need go without. Always living by the Golden Rule, he was gentle and loyal. Floyd loved his family and friends deeply, especially his great-nieces and great-nephew, who were his pride and joy, and his little buddies. He always made sure to have snacks and treats on-hand when he spent time with them, and would play tag, hide-and-go seek, and roll down the hill in his yard for hours just to see them smile.
Floyd never spoke badly of anyone, and never talked down to people. He was mild-mannered and always had a welcoming smile. He had never met a stranger, and always made everyone feel included. You always belonged somewhere with Floyd. The world needs more friends like him.
Left to cherish his memory are his niece, Aspen Garland Trivette, and her husband, Daniel Trivette, who became Floyd’s very dear friend; their three children: Iris, Chloe and Colt Trivette; one brother-in-law, Michael Garland; special friends: Todd Gouge, Cheryl Buchanan, Ken Huskins and Max Gouge, Jr.; as well as numerous other wonderful friends and family.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 16th, at Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery with speaker John Hall officiating. A memorial service will follow at Grassy Creek Presbyterian Church.
