6th grader Jayko Erwin may be new to the Mitchell Miners wrestling team this season, but he’s far from a rookie wrestler.
Erwin recently traveled with Believe to Achieve Wrestling Academy of Cleveland, North Carolina to the I-64 dual team championships held in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He recorded a 4-2 record for the day, and helped B2A bring home 2nd place overall.
The tough competition at this regional event gave Erwin a preview of the stiff competition he will face as a first year middle schooler in the Miners lineup.
Practices for Mitchell Middle School began this week. Mitchell Youth League wrestling will kick off Monday, October 27, with the high school season beginning October 29.
