Jacky Lee Parker, age 71, of Coeburn, Virginia, finished his long and courageous fight on Sunday, October 19th, 2025, with his family holding him close. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Avery and Muriel Carroll Parker. He was also preceded in death by three siblings: Zeke Parker, Gabra Burris and James Parker; and two brothers-in-law: Tommy Hollifield and Gary L. Burris.
Jacky spent much of his life working outdoors doing what he loved most – landscaping and caring for shrubs and gardens. He took great pride in his work and was known for his hard work and care he showed to every project he took on. Outside of work, Jacky enjoyed football season, being an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers, and loved the roar of the engines during NASCAR season, cheering on Joey Logano, #22. He also loved fishing and spending time outdoors, but nothing brought him greater joy than sharing special moments with his beloved granddaughters, who were the light of his life.
Those who will continue to feel his presence include his daughter, Jacqualine Parker (Danny) of Coeburn VA; son, Ethan Parker (Danielle) of Burnsville; grandchildren: Kadence Faith, A’Miracle Rayn, Riley Paige and Ashley Hilemon; five siblings: Mildred Parker Hollifield of Tallahassee, FL, Howard Parker (Lillian) of Burnsville, Donna Gibson (Carson) of Spruce Pine, Sheila Baldwin of Delmar, FL, and Harlon Parker of Burnsville; as well as sister-in-law, Doris Shuford Parker of Marion, and special friends: Cecil and Lori, Dinkey, Moe and Amy Jo, Chas and family. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family survive him as well.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 26th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Tony Laws and Israel Gibson will officiate. The family will hold a private burial in the Carroway Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ethan Parker, John Murphy, Chris Willis, Marty Willis, Tim Parker, Laken Willis, John Wyatt, Jared Parker and Bradley Wyatt.
In light of the compassion and care shown to Jacky during his illness, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to Caris Healthcare at 322 Cloverleaf Square Building E, Suite 3, Big Stone Gap, VA 24219.
