Mitchell Students Learn About Mayland Programs; Practice Hands-on Simulations

d2-3

Mayland Community College Instructors, Christy Cooper (nursing), Josh Cook (emergency services) and Susan Shepard (medical assisting), visited Katy Grindstaff’s Career & Technical Education health science programs at Mitchell High School to discuss Mayland’s health science programs, including the new medical laboratory technician program.  Students gained insightful information on medical careers that aligned with each program, including length of post-secondary training, areas for advancements, career outlook, pay, local opportunities, and required testing consideration.  Students were able to participate in hands-on simulations, including wound clotting and newborn care.  Thank you Mayland Health Sciences for supporting our students in their post-secondary applications.
