Geraldine Silvers Stamey, age 63, of Georges Fork, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Neva Berry Silvers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James William “Billy” Stamey, who passed away in 2012; brother-in-law, Ralph Briggs and niece, Charlene Gouge Briggs.
Geraldine was a devoted Christian lady who lived for the Lord. She was always a kind and loving soul who’s radiant smile lit up the room. She had a talent for photoshopping photographs and creating cards for her friends and loved ones. She also enjoyed creating music cds and photo and video dvds. One of her favorite pastimes was working in her flower gardens.
Left to cherish her memory are her sisters: Tina Elkins and her husband, Larry, of Bakers Creek and Lena Briggs of Jacks Creek; special friend, Ken Mainster of Georges Fork; nieces and nephews: Michelle McIntosh and her husband, Jordan, Jackie Briggs, Sonya Thomas and her husband, Mark, and Brent Elkins; Several great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts and uncles, and other extended family members also survive.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4th at Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Dustin Adkins and Rev. Scott McIntosh will officiate. Private burial will be in the Jack Silvers Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Jordan McIntosh, Josh Wheeler, Austin Hoilman, Jackie Briggs, Brent Elkins and Morris Silvers.
The family would like to thank Compassionate Care WNC for the kind and wonderful care given to Geraldine and her family during her last days here on earth before graduating to her heavenly home.
