Mitchell High Wrestling Coach and Team NC Wrestling State Chairperson Ed Duncan recently attended the 2025 United World Wrestling (UWW) Beach Wrestling World Series Finale and annual leadership meeting, held in Alexandria, Egypt.
Delegates from around the globe met to discuss the continued growth and expansion of beach wrestling, including its place in the upcoming 2026 Youth Olympic Games slated for 2026 in Dakar, Senegal.
Duncan began his involvement with beach wrestling as a state volunteer, organizing local and state competitions for North Carolina athletes. In 2013 Duncan helped lead the effort to bring the USA Beach Wrestling National Championships to North Carolina, and in 2022 he founded the Beach Wrestling Tour of America Series, which consists of over a dozen regional and national events across the country. He has served as the US Representative to the United World Wrestling Organization since the committee’s founding in 2016.
