Richard Jarrett, age 81, of N.C. 226 South in Bakersville, Ledger community, passed away Friday, November 7, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 30, 1944, in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Norman and Marie Pitman Jarrett. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Dalton Jarrett and his brother, Phillip Jarrett.
Richard was the founder and co-owner of Dick’s Carpet for forty-six years and the owner of Jarrett and Sons Tree Farm for forty years. He was a member of the Mitchell County Soil and Water Commission. He was also a member of Mitchell Baptist Church.
He enjoyed trips to Florida in the winter months and fishing on Lake Okeechobee. He also enjoyed growing Christmas trees with his son, grandsons, and many dear friends.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife; Nora Nell Jarrett of the home, his son; Richie Jarrett and wife Regina of Bakersville, his daughter; Shelly McIntosh and husband Scott of Johnson City, TN, his sister; Alice Grindstaff of Bakersville, and his grandchildren; Dylan Jarrett, Luke McIntosh, and Kyndal McIntosh.
Funeral services for Richard Jarrett will be on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Freedom Baptist Church with Reverends Blake Glenn, Andy Willis, and Todd Ayers officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Freedom Baptist Church. Entombment will be in the Bear Creek Baptist Church Mausoleum.
